Additional details emerged Monday on the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics’ sport and venue schedule. The first events will start July 12—days before the opening ceremony—with team sports like cricket (Pomona Fairplex), handball (Long Beach Arena), and field hockey (Dignity Health Sports Park) kicking off at 9 a.m. local time. More early soccer prelims may be added later.

The first medal could come from a triathlon at Venice Beach on July 15, starting 7:30 a.m., pending good weather and water quality. Next is canoe slalom in Oklahoma City, running 9 a.m.–noon local time (7–10 a.m. LA time) on July 14.

 

The schedule lists swimming as the final event: a likely 4x100m medley relay at SoFi Stadium, starting 4:30 p.m. It ends just 90 minutes before the closing ceremony at Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum.

 

The final-day marathon has no set time but may finish later, with LA in afternoon heat—posing a challenge for runners.
